Dear parents/Caregivers
In discussion with students and teachers we have decided to change the end of year Study Leave arrangements for Year 11-13 students.
Senior students who need extra time to complete outstanding assessments or who have work to finish will be expected to attend classes until the end of the year. These classes will run in their normal timetabled periods through until Friday 1 December unless individual teachers have completed assessments with all students prior. Study leave will only be granted from Monday 6 November to those who have a large number of external examinations or those who have completed and passed all internal standards towards their qualification. It may be that subject passes are issued for your son/daughter in some courses, but they may still be required to complete work in others. Parents will be informed of the decision for their student by letter home near the beginning of Term 4.
This decision has been made in order assist our students in achieving to their potential and gaining their NCEA qualifications before the end of the year. The extra time in classes will allow students maximum time to work on internal assessments, give students who qualify reassessment opportunities, and allow for more in depth curriculum delivery prior to external exams.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school and ask to speak with either Mr Reichenbach or Mr Robinson if you would like to discuss this further.
Yours sincerely
Mark Robinson
