Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

BYOD is an approach where students bring their own device (chrome book) to school in order to complete learning activities and access the internet. They also have access at home via the internet, to a range of Waiopehu College learning resources so that learning opportunties extend beyond the classroom.

Waiopehu College recognises the opportunities that digital technology has brought to learning. Our students have a right to receive a high-quality education in a safe online and offline environment. We know that online spaces are complex and full of challenges for young people. This is why we have created a culture of safe, responsible, and ethical technology that helps support learning while reducing exposure to online risks.

Manaiakalani is a long-established community of learners who engage collaboratively to increase student outcomes through applied evidence based improvement in teacher practice. Waiopehu College is one of the schools in the Horowhenua region taking part in the Manaiakalani Programme Outreach (TMPO). The Manaiakalani programme supports our staff to upskill, enabling our learners and their whānau to access their learning anywhere, anytime, and at any pace.
